Civics Hour

Civics Hour

The UCR Counts Committee is proud to present a new virtual webinar in addition to our usual Census Champion Training Sessions. UCR Counts! Civic Hour will provide a more in-depth discussion about Census interrelated topics like Census History, Race, Ethnicity, Representation, and more. Filling out the census helps our Communities from being underfunded, underrepresented, and undercounted. Census data impacts funding for critical resources like healthcare, education, infrastructure, research, and more. However, as we peek into Census history we come across decades of racial injustice, especially for our communities of color. From May to October 2020, we invite you to join our virtual dialogue where you will not only learn about the decennial Census but also how you and your community can obtain agency to make a difference. Don't be afraid to join as many sessions as you can! We will be introducing a new guest and discuss different topics every week. We look forward to having you at our Civic Hour!

When: Wednesday's at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (PST)

UCR Census 2020 Efforts & COVID-19

april 2nd covid

We are entering a critical time for our region, as COVID-19 places enormous stress on our student and staff communities. It is also a critical time to make sure that everyone gets counted for 2020 Census, as it will determine federal and state representation and funding for local infrastructure and services for the next 10 years.

With so many changes occurring every week, it is more vital than ever for us to share timely information about the need to shift our strategy and share outreach opportunities.

In these calls, we hope to generate greater awareness of what the Census strategy will be for our campus. We know that collaboration and partnership is going to be the bedrock for managing the flow of information and awareness.
